What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I was in another city on a festival holiday. This was the first time I’d been away from my family for a big occasion. Finding time alone on such an occasion was difficult, I spoke to a friend who lived in the same city with his family who was already married.
I thought that if I went to his house for a while, I’d get a feel like home. When I arrived at his house, the situation was completely upside down. Preparations for the festival were underway, but the couples (my friend and his wife) were at odds over something.
After I arrived, the atmosphere remained calm and quiet for a while, then the two of them started arguing. Perhaps they disagreed on every little thing. At that moment I realized that alone was better to celebrate festival. Being alone is one thing, but being with someone and feeling alone is a whole different kind of emptiness.
There’s a certain peace in solitude, a clarity that you don’t get when you’re tangled up with someone who only adds to the noise in your head. I’d rather sit with my own thoughts, face my own demons, than be with someone who makes the silence even louder.
There’s a difference between being alone and being lonely, and I’ve learned that the worst loneliness is the kind you feel in someone else’s presence. I’d rather be by myself, with my own company, than be with someone who makes me feel more alone than ever.

Dear friend, A beautifully honest reflection, sometimes solitude brings more light than company ever could. Happy Diwali to you. 🎆🎇🪔✨

This is such a deeply introspective and beautifully expressed reflection. 🌙✨ You’ve captured a truth that many feel but few can articulate — that being alone is not always loneliness, and that sometimes solitude offers a deeper sense of peace than company ever could.
Your story begins with such relatable warmth — the hope of finding comfort in a familiar face during a festive time — and then gently unfolds into a powerful realization about emotional authenticity and inner peace. The contrast between external celebration and internal stillness is profoundly moving.

Well said, Shashwat !
That feeling you described—”being with someone and feeling alone is a whole different kind of emptiness”—is very real. It’s often better to have your own honest company than to be with someone who just adds noise and makes you feel more isolated. It seems like your holiday, while not what you expected, taught you something valuable about self-reliance and the value of true peace

I hear you. To expect to have a wonderful time in a holiday is kinda impossible. There will always be dramas. That is why I dont go. I am not an anti social person but I just want peace and enjoy everyday. Often it has been thought that to be alone is being lonely, i just enjoy serenity. Sometimes I have time to talk with a few friends.

Alone is not loneliness. Perfectly said. People often force me to be a part of social activity and I would like to dedicate this post to them, because spending time in your cozy place after a hectic week is not a loneliness rather a solitude one should enjoy.
