Who learns only from words?

Is a little chaos actually good for us?

This is a profound and truthful couplet by the renowned poet Jaun Elia “Who has ever learned from words alone? Everyone needs a mishap.”

This means that a person does not learn life’s true lessons merely through sermons, advice, or words. Rather, until they encounter a major setback or a painful experience, a harsh jolt, they do not gain a true understanding of the world and their own mistakes.

Similarly, when I was about to start my business, experts used to offer plenty of advice, telling me to do this or that but I would only truly grasp those lessons when I actually encountered the problems themselves.

It was only after overcoming a problem that I would recall they had already warned me about it. No matter how much theory we study in class, we cannot gain real knowledge until we perform practical work in the lab.
