What’s the best local dish you’ve ever eaten while traveling?
While traveling, getting peanuts with black salt and spicy green chutney(sauce) makes the experience truly delightful. This is my favourite snacks and it is easily available here.
The crunch of roasted peanuts, the sharp kick of salt, and the fiery freshness of green chutney. It’s the kind of simple roadside snack that turns travel into an experience, almost like carrying the flavor of the land with you.
The chutney’s coriander, garlic, mint, lemon, salt and green chili brightness cuts through the richness of the peanuts, making every bite feel alive.
It reminds me of how journeys often become memorable not just because of the places, but because of these small, flavorful rituals a snack at a bus stop, tea at a railway stall, or fruit from a roadside vendor.

All time favourite but in Pakistan it,s available only in winter season.

Oh, this made me hungry just reading it! 😄🥜🌶️ There is something wonderfully satisfying about roasted peanuts with black salt and that fiery green chutney—the crunch, the heat, the tang, and the freshness all coming together in one perfect roadside bite.
I especially loved your thought that travel memories are often made not only by the places we visit, but by the little food rituals along the way. So true! A simple snack at a bus stop, chai at a railway stall, or something freshly picked from a roadside vendor can become more memorable than an expensive restaurant meal

Wowww… You described this so beautifully, Mishra! 😄🥜 I can relate to this because I’ve had peanuts with black salt and spicy green chutney while travelling too. Somehow, these simple roadside snacks become part of the journey and stay in our memory long after the trip. 🤤

Oh, this made my mouth water! Got back my childhood memories of winters. Peanuts with black salt and that zingy green chutney coriander, mint, garlic, chili sounds like the perfect roadside ritual. I love how you described the chutney’s brightness ‘cutting through the richness of the peanuts.’ You can taste every word! Simple food really does carry the soul of a place.

This is such a lovely answer — the humble roadside snack over the fancy restaurant meal every time. Peanuts with black salt and that bright coriander-mint-chili chutney sounds like the perfect thing to eat while watching a bus stop go by. You put your finger on something true: the tea at a railway stall and fruit from a roadside vendor are exactly the bits our kids remember most from a trip.
